Megson clarifies deal with Bolton

I've not signed 'new' contract - Megson

Manager Gary Megson says he has finally signed a contract with Bolton after working without a deal for 15 months.

It was reported at the weekend that he had agreed a new rolling contract after signing an initial two-and-a-half year deal in October 2007.

But Megson revealed he had not had a contract at the Reebok Stadium since replacing Sammy Lee as boss.

"I've been working without a contract. Nothing sinister in it, I just never signed it," said Megson.

"Then we got a point where it had to be done and I signed it last week.

"It's not a new contract, it's no different to the way I was working 10 days ago so it's just the fact that I actually signed it. But there's no big deal at all."

Megson said Bolton, who visit Stoke on Wednesday, would not be taking their foot off the pedal despite sitting in a relatively comfortable 10th position in the Premier League table.

"You can't get away from the fact that each and every game as you get towards the end of the season is absolutely huge," he said.

"We said before the West Ham game it was our most important game of the season and we won that.

"What that did, it made our next one the most important game of the season and each time you play one and win it just keeps going on and on. When we play Stoke, this now becomes our most important game of the season."
